Santa María of the Areas Crosspiece

Crosspiece shaped as Crucifix.

Quadrangular platform with three steps.

Octagonal pedestal, finished with bevels. Crosspiece column is octagonal shaped, begins square and has decorations at bevels.

The capital is octagonal, the astragal octagonal and flat, the abacus with straight sides, acacia leaves and flowers.

The cross is a Gothic one with T-shaped pinnacles.

DESCRIPTION:

Obverse: Christ crucified with three nails, head bend to right, hands open. Crown with thorns, fineness cloth, and canopy and joined with the Virgin and Saint John.

Reverse: Virgin with sat child. With canopy.
