Rapadoira Cross

This cross marked the entrance of the old Real Way through Duio´s Valley. It was an obligatory step for pilgrims coming from Santiago de Compostela.

Cross shaped as a Crucifix type.

The platform is quadrangular with three degrees.

The pedestal is quadrangular .

The column is square with a half round.

The capital is octagonal.

The cross is cruciform with ornate arms.

DESCRIPTION:

Obverse: It shows crucified Christ with three nails. His head is tilted to the right and his hands are closed. He has a crown with thorns and a loincloth tied on the left side.

Reverse: Piedad Virgin´s image.

It was built with granite.
